Area of expertise: Forensic medical evaluations

After gastroenterology training at the Mayo Clinic, I worked at Kaiser Permanente San Diego from 1976 to 2018. Then, I was Senior Associate Editor of the American Journal of Gastroenterology for 3 years. I now work part-time at the San Diego Veterans Administration Gastroenterology Clinic supervising fellows and residents. My wife and I have promoted justice in Palestine and medical care for injured and sick Palestinian children for about 15 years. I have performed pro bono forensic medical evaluations on asylum seekers at Survivors of Torture, International in San Diego for over 20 years. This has been some of the most rewarding work of my career.
