Sumaiya is a medical student at the Yale School of Medicine and a student leader at the Yale Center for Asylum Medicine. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Brown University. Currently, she works with underserved populations through the HAVEN Free Clinic, and she is passionate about immigrant health and advocacy for asylum-seekers.

She also happens to enjoy running and painting.
