Area of expertise: Program/project management

Stephanie Romero, MPA, is the Program Coordinator for the Health & Human Rights Initiative at UCSF. Her family immigrated from Chalatenango, El Salvador - a place where there are strong roots of activism. Inspired by her family, she volunteered several years at Mujeres Unidas y Activas, a grass-root organization and Clinica Martin-Baro, a student-organized clinic where her passion for community organizing and public health grew.

Furthermore, she has an array of experience in FQHC's, non-profits, community-based organizations, and Medicaid managed care. Her dedication to serve the community in addition to the culminating experience in care coordination, program management/development, and patient/health advocacy allows her to create workflows, policies and procedures for the HHRI that targets immigrants, asylees, and refugees. She received her Bachelors degree in Latinx Studies with a minor in Race and Resistance from San Francisco State University. She then went on to the University of San Francisco to complete her Masters in Public Administration with a focus in Healthcare Administration.
