Shawn Singh Sidhu, M.D. is currently an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine where he serves as Training Director for the UCSD Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program. He works primarily with underserved county populations through Rady Children’s Hospital of San Diego and neighboring Native American tribes.

Dr. Sidhu has provided mental health evaluations for humanitarian relief and has also testified in federal court. In addition, he has testified to staff of the United States Senate Committee on Healthcare, Education, Labor, and Pensions. Dr. Sidhu developed a training program by partnering with neighboring Southwestern border communities through which he has been able to train approximately 630 individuals in being able to provide mental health evaluations for immigrants fleeing torture and persecution. Partnering communities include, but are not limited to, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, El Paso, Brownsville/McAllen, Phoenix, Tucson, and now San Diego.

Dr. Sidhu has also published a number of peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on the topic of immigrant mental health, and he has given multiple national presentations on this topic as well. In addition, he has spoken on the evening news and advocated with local legislative officials.
