Sarah Messmer is an internal medicine and pediatrics attending physician at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is a faculty advisor of the Chicago People's Rights Collaborative (CPRC), a Chicago-wide student-run asylum clinic and training organization, and member of the Midwest Human Rights Consortium of the Illinois Chapter of the AAP. Before moving back to Chicago, she was involved in the formation of the Massachusetts General Hospital Asylum Clinic as a resident. She is a member of the Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) Asylum Network and has experience conducting forensic medical evaluations for clients seeking asylum in the United States, and has experience training and mentoring clinicians to in this work.
