Since 2018, as Director of Medical & Clinical Affairs, Dr. Roxana Cruz provides clinical leadership to Texas Association of Community Health Centers’ programs, education, member support, and advocacy for 73 Health Centers in Texas. Dr. Cruz earned her undergraduate degree in Bacteriology and Public Health at Washington State University and her M.D. at New York Medical College in 1995. Always committed to working for and with populations made vulnerable, in the U.S. and internationally, she is Board-certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the ACP; she also holds a Certificate in Clinical Tropical Medicine & Travelers’ Health.

Her career in health centers started as physician and Medical Director at Los Barrios Unidos in Dallas, moving to work in NYC with homeless families at The Floating Hospital, and later at Ryan-NENA CHC, where she worked with patients living with HIV/AIDS. In 2007, she moved to rural Texas to work at Carevide, as Medical Director. Dr. Cruz served as the Medical Director (2013-2018) for a hospital-owned 501a, practicing and supervising three Rural Health Centers in Greenville, Texas, where she was acted as Chief of Medical Staff. In 2015, the National Rural Health Association selected her as ‘Rural Health Fellow’.
