My name is Lorena Perez. Prior to working as a nurse, I worked with a legal team in a human rights case in Bolivia. During this time, I worked with family members whose loved ones were murdered by the government and state forces. I worked with these individuals during the trial to help gather information needed for the judicial process and worked to create a bridge between them and the legal team. After my time in Bolivia, I moved to Boston to get training as a nurse and began working at Boston Healthcare for the Homeless. Here is where I was able to gain additional training with victims of trauma as well as many who suffer from substance use disorder and a wide range of psychological disorders with the added stress of the pandemic. I have a passion for equity and want to continue to serve as an advocate and hoping to further that with more medical and legal training.
