Dr. Kim Baranowski is the Associate Director of the Mount Sinai Human Rights Program (MSHRP). The program serves asylum seekers to the United States who have experienced torture and other human rights violations in their countries of origin. The MSHRP provides pro bono services through a holistic approach, incorporating innovative training, research, and advocacy, as well as wraparound social services and continuity care treatment, to positively impact the lives of individuals, families, and communities exposed to persecution.

She conducts research on human rights, social justice, and the mental health correlates of gender-based violence and persecution. Dr. Baranowski is dedicated to collaborating with allied professionals to provide culturally-responsive trauma-informed services to communities experiencing a wide range of socio-political stressors, as well as working across disciplines to address systemic forces of oppression.
