My name is Dr Everistus Chijioke Aniaku. I am a Public Health Physician, an Epidemiologist, Assistance Director with the Nigeria centre for Disease Control, Fellow United State Public Health Emergency Management, Fellow West African College of Physicians (FWACP) and the Pioneer Head of the National PHEOC at the Nigeria Center for Disease Control and Prevention (October 2017 – March 2022). In this role, I established 31 subnational PHEOCs in Nigeria and led on the PHEOC capacity building (Training/Mentoring, SIMEX and AAR) of the frontline responders at the subnational space. I have trained over 1800 multidisciplinary personnel that supports incident management activities of various disease outbreaks ranging from Lassa fever, CSM, Measles, Yellow fever, Monkey pox, Cholera, Mumps, and COVID_19 etc. I have led the National Rapid Response Team (RRT) for the Pandemic COVID-19 response in Lagos State (Epi Centre), Nigeria and led the National RRT on previous disease outbreaks including Lassa fever, Dengue hemorrhagic fever, measles, cerebral spinal meningitis, Cholera, and mumps etc. I lead the development of all the incident documents such as the Emergency Operations Plan/ Emergency Operations Response Plan, several SOPs for PHEOC Operationalization (from Pre-activation to De-activation), Incident activation plan, PHEOC Handbook for all the Subnational PHEOCs in Nigeria, led the development of several systems/Platforms that maintains Situational Awareness (SA) in our National and Subnational PHEOCs. I have led on two BMGF projects on PHEOC Establishment and Optimization of subnational PHEOCs. I Led on Intra-Action Review on COVID-19 in Nigeria. I am a team member that is reviewing WHO PHEOC Handbook and Framework. I am currently the pioneer Head of Subnational PHEOC Network Division in the Subnational Support Department, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
