Dr. Garza-Benavides provides immigration-related psychological services. She has extensive experience in diagnosis, assessment, and intercultural practice. Her experience with trauma includes work with victims of domestic violence, assault, human trafficking, violent crimes, political threats, torture, and war. Dr. Garza-Benavides specializes in psychological evaluations for survivors of trauma who are seeking asylum or in the process for other types of humanitarian immigration. Immigration evaluations related to extreme hardship, domestic violence, cancellation of removal, human trafficking and political asylum cases, among others are provided. She has worked with the Department of Homeland Security - Office of Refugee Resettlement for assessments of Unaccompanied Minors. Prior work also includes providing psychotherapy to victims of crime as determined by the Texas Attorney General’s Office, Crime Victims Program. Dr. Garza-Benavides has experience with psychological evaluations for agency placement, immigration proceedings, and court-related cases. Her psychological reports have been admitted as evidence in immigration court on multiple occasions.
